Our pack lives in the quiet, rural municipality of Merikarvia, located about 50 km north from Pori. The human members of the pack include my husband Jari and our three children, Jesse -96, Tiia -00, and Riku -03. Zara (Nugadogin Huuma) is the one who's responsible for the guarding of our yard. Beside her, learning life and the profession of a watchdog, is always Lotta, (Hoffen-Damms Zmilla) who is an import from Sweden and the daughter of our very own Rocky. In addition, we have two smaller pack members, Mittelspitz bitches Ruusa (Damirazin Ehta Enkelin Siipi) and Ronja (Abcanitzin Isleen) bringing joy to our lives. Our co-owned black & tan bitch hovawart Nugadogin Miranda a.k.a. Mila lives in Pori, in the tender care of Katja Pantsar. All these wonderful dogs have special places in our hearts, and one place will always be reserved for Tatsi, a Hovawart lady who was unfortunately taken from us by an accident in August 2010.

I started my career as a dog breeder in 1997, when the first Nugadogin puppies were born. The first Hovawart I used for breeding purposes was also my first Hovawart, a then four-year-old bitch called Nuga (Danahoffin Babette). So Hovawarts have been a part of my life since 1993. During these years I've tried to gain more knowledge on dog training, behaviour, body language, stress reactions and learning mechanisms. I've also taken courses on canine neurological conditions and show handling, although canine psychology is my main area of interest. I've had the privilege to be taught by wonderful individuals from all over the world like Sally Hopkings, Gerard O`Shea, Riitta Aho, Tuire Kaimio, Ilmari Virtanen, Miia Kantinkoski, Cizinauskas Sigitas, Ranno Viitmaa and Tarja Jokinen.

Besides breeding, my favourite dog hobbies are shows, agility, obedience and long walks with my pack. I also find searching really interesting, and I've been doing some work on that with Zara and Lotta. In addition to spending time with my kids and my dogs, I'm currently doing my intermediate studies in special education and other studies. Occasionally I've also organised a children's pet club at Merikarvia primary school. I'm also taking singing lessons from Solja Virta. In addition to all this, I'm also the chief steward of the trade union JHL in Merikarvia. Although I'm a vocational teacher by education, I'm currently in my dream job, teaching a small group of special needs students in Merikarvia secondary school. So I am keeping myself busy enough... :-)

A nice change for the pack of humans and dogs is our Syrian hamster (Golden hamster) Laikku. We got him in autumn -09, when Tiia's first hamster Tico Tico passed away because of old age, right in the middle of his daily activities.

On top of all this, we have a cat, Oggy. Our lovely tom Veeti went missing in early summer 09, an unfortunate consequence of letting him roam free.
